How do I know which hairstyle is the most flattering for my face shape?

There are four basic facial shapes. Each of us will be one of these shapes or a combination of two. Other factors to consider are hair texture and body shape to round out the whole picture.

Round Face Shape – The hairstyles that look best on this shape are ones that elongate the face and make it appear slimmer. Layered cuts work well with this shape adding height and volume.

Square Face Shape- The best styles for this shape are ones without blunt lines or hard angles. Soft layers or razor techniques work best for this face shape.

Long Face Shape- The best styles are ones that are above the shoulders with width and volume. Bangs and layers work well with this shape.

Oval Face Shape – Most styles work well with this face shape even very short ones.

Salon products are different and have added value for three reasons. The products in the salon are ph balanced for your hair type. The salon professional recommending product is going to offer products specifically designed to enhance and work with your hair type. I have never colored my hair before. What type of hair color would be right for me?

The best place to start is with your hair color professional. There are many different color options available; semi permanent, permanent, highlights, lowlights, and color glosses.

Semi permanent color is tone on tone color, which usually means your natural hair color or going darker. This color choice adds lots of body and shine.

Permanent color is the best choice for gray coverage. This color choice allows you to go up to four shades lighter than your natural base or as rich and deep with color as you like. Permanent color lasts longer and is more fade resistant.

Highlights and Lowlights are a weaving technique used to isolate strands of hair. The idea is to separate the strands from the rest of your natural color and lighten or darken them to provide contrast and spark.

Color gloss is a single application is designed to give the hair maximum shine and body. There is no visible color change.
